I'm not even really sure how much flashbangs are used in combat but if you knew one was coming, is there any sort of equipment you could use to shield yourself? I know new welding helmets have an electronic system in them that black out and then adjust to the arc. If you were the defender and was facing someone trying to come in I wander if that technology could be incorporated into a gas mask that way youd get double protection. Anyone know if they got something like that?
Those grenades are used in hostage rescue situations and only when you have an element of surprise in your favor. They are designed not to cause causalities so wholly inappropriate for 99.9% of all combat applications.
All you can do is plug your ears, turn your head, close your eyes and hope it doesn't land close enough to blow out your ear drums or catch your clothes on fire. I had more fatigues ruined training with those things than I did crawling through the woods.
