What is the building you would most like to see restored to its former glory in the UK?
Today for various reasons I passed a derelict butchers which was a lovely building with dark green glazed tiles and gold signage. It is patiently awaiting action to restore it and find a new use.
So what old/derelict/unloved building would you like to see restored in your town/city?
Links to pictures would be good!
Stoo - Indeed new buildings are very important, however I'm sure most would agree that preserving our built heritage is also vital. Some of the best places in the UK are a fusion of the old and new in harmony.
That butchers sounds intriguing....
The big project I would love to see restored is St Andrews in Rodney st Liverpool. The curious tomb in it's grounds (a pyramid) contains the body of a notorious gambler, reputedly sat at a card table! It's been neglected for decades despite various attempts for compulsory purchase against the owner who has done naff all for years...http://www.ancient-egypt.co.uk/liverpool/pyramid/index.htm
The small one is a small Tudor cottage round the corner from where I grew up. It sits amidst a council estate. It is actually owned by the council who rent it out to whoever is top of the list for accommodation. Consequently it has been unloved for years...it's even got net curtains on it's windows...just irks me no end. It is one of the oldest houses in Liverpool
