What are the places to look for energy efficient garage doors in Southern California?
We plan to get a door with the opener and that qualifies tax credit.
I got a quote from Amarr for their Stratford 3000 series(link below) around $1700 including the opener and installation. Is this quote reasonable or high?

For $1,700, you should expect a good quality door and opener with at least a 15 year door warranty "on all of the moving parts and springs." Beware many garage door companies put only a 1 year warranty on their products. The springs do break and when they do, it's a $400 repair. Do not buy a garage door with a short warranty on springs.
Make sure the garage door section joints cannot amputate your fingers. Closed and guarded joints will prevent injuries to you and your children. Garage door section joint injuries occur thousands of times per year.
Amarr is a reliable manufacturer from the east coast (North Carolina). There are western garage door manufacturers which will be a better value because of high freight costs.
Regarding the opener, make sure you're getting a belt drive DC opener. These are very quiet and will not wake up the neighborhood when you get home at night. Here too, expect at least a 15 year warranty on all parts, not just the motor.
To find a good garage door company, choose one that's been around for a while. New companies start up and disappear every year in this industry so you've got to be careful. Find one that's big enough and old enough to honor their warranties.
