Dynamic Bicycles are shaft driven bikes with enclosed Nexus Hubs is this a jewel or a thief?

It makes sense, why isn't everyone doing this? What are the pros and cons. Most importantly, it looks like they have worked out changing the rear tire in case of a flat. Its even affordable. This is my first time running across this old tried and true mechanics. For you bike pros what is your take on the product and the company.
Thanks.
The pros are it is generally quiet and since the transmission is enclosed it should be pretty reliable. The cons are that not many companies are making parts for shaft driven bikes, so should something break it is usually pretty expensive to get the parts and even harder to get someone to put the parts in. We had one come into the shop making a very nasty noise from the gears and we had never seen one come through the shop before. Apparently the owner had taken the bike to Florida and ridden the bike by the beach thinking the transfer case will keep crap out. We opened up the case and dumped a bunch of sand out of it. After a thorough cleaning we inspected the parts, saw that there wasn't any pitting (thank goodness), cleaned and dried everything again, and then lubed and put everything back together again. My thinking is that like the auto shift bike, the idea is a really good one but the target audience will never pay $1500+ to get a properly engineered one and so to make the price go down the companies take short cuts to get the price closer to $400, and reliability takes a hit. Only time will tell if more companies will try the design and improve on efficiency and price to compete with the tried and true chain and gears set up. If you have a shop that is willing to keep everything going smoothly and you are going to stay away from beaches and gravel roads/trails, then go ahead and give it a chance. If you are near a beach or gravel road, then stick with the chain and gear setup as repair costs will be cheaper. Happy trails!
