Potable Water White

I have 'Jet White' jointing compound on an outside tap that I now want to use for drinking water. Is it safe?
The 'jet white' jointing compound pot states that it should only be used for non-potable water andthat 'Jet blue' should be used for potable water. I have used the jet white on an outside tap that i now want to use to supply drinking water to a caravan. Is it safe to leave as it is or should I remove the jet white and replace with jet blue? If so how do I remove the jet white?
White should not be used for drinking water although they are probably erring on the side of caution - in a caravan I doubt you would get the same level of exposure as a normal domestic installation.
It is an easy job to take apart and remake the joint with the blue so I would do that - the white should clean off with a rag and a pick tool ... any problems then just swap out the fitting.
Hope that helps
