What size circulator pump should I upgrade to?
So I have a sprawling in floor radiant heat system (1400 feet of pex) with a very cool manifold that tells me the GPM for each circuit in the system. There are 10 circuits and each one has about 100-160 feet of 3/8" pex in it. The installer put a Taco 007 as the ciculator pump and the system works, heated all winter. However, I can't control the flow to each circuit because the Taco is not moving the water fast enough and my manifold barely registers a flow on each circuit even though heat gets everywhere, a little slow, but it gets there. I need to control the flow better because I've got two rooms that could stand a little more flow (ie, heat) and one big room that could give up some flow because it gets a little too hot.
My guess is I need more juice in the circulator but before I call a plumber I wanted get educated.
You might be better splitting the system and have 2 pumps instead of one this allows you more control of the system, possible the same size pumps with valves and timers to control flow for bedrooms (night time) or living areas
