can you use a water tank heater for hydronic heating?
put a circulator pump and expansion tank on the return and use the hot for the supply side? i've seen it done to prevent ice build up in a "situation" is this right? the situation is irrelevant, it is outside 2 foot below grade unburied covered with steel grates. it is fed using white pex as supply and gray pex as return. metal fins are used to displace the heat where it is needed. everything in this system is potable water grade. the water tank is electric.
Yes, but the tank temperature will require some trial and error adjustment. It needs to be hot enough to supply the desired heat, but hotter tanks lose more energy. Try tuning it so the circulation pump stays on for 1-3 minutes.
