40g Tank Plan?
I currently have several fish tanks where I breed livebearers, and my LFS tells me that I'm really good at keeping my fish in good shape. So I am trying to plan out a 40g Tank to fill with several species of gourami and others.
Anyway, I think I'm going to start my 40g Tank with one Opaline Gourami (6" max) and then as it matures, add in one of each of the following:
- Pearl gourami (4")
- Blue Paradise Fish (4")
- Blue Gourami (6")
- Gold Gourami (6")
- Some color of FW Angel fish (6")
- Two Hammer's Cobalt Blue Lobsters (5")
- Maybe some snails and/or clams.
That adds up to 42" total, so its a LITTLE bit over the inch-per-gallon rule, but I garauntee that I will buy the fish at MUCH smaller sizes and they probably won't get THAT big.
Is this combination okay? Any other suggestions for substrate, plants, accessories, or different fish? I know not to add the fish too quickly, theyd each be added several weeks apart from each other.
Your fine looks like it's going to be a great tank.
If your worried get a second filter which you should have anyways to max out your bio capacity
Never over feed
Do weekly 20% water changes and that tank will be bullet proof
Those fish will hit that size in a couple years so you have time.
It's more about how much waste each guy produces. Some are waste machines like platies sword tails and mollies and some danios.
Gourami's not the case
But lobsters i have no idea.
research lobster owners to determine bio loads they produce and go from there.
Good luck!!
what about chocolates and sparkiing?
