I have replaced the alnernator with a new automotive part. is there anything internal in a marine alt. that would cause this?
HI The first is you never ever replace a marine starter or a alternator with a car part. This is way if you have gas fumes in the engine cover it can blow up this is just like having a bomb in the boat.Your problem the wire going to the coil is not shutting off when the engine turned off and will keep running you need to put a marine alternator back into your boat go back and get you old one if you can not find it tell them they sold you a car part not boat part and that this illegal and they end up in court.
