how safe are 'rabbit punches' & neck strikes?
OK, I downloaded an old marine combat manual off the internet (kill or be killed, or something like that) & it has a lot of good tips on fighting people who want to kill you... but for the knockout moves it doesn't really tell you how dangerous they are if you're just using them on someone you DON'T want to kill, so two I'm wondering about are rabit punches (a punch to the base of the skull where the spine meets it) and strikes to the sides of the enck (not the throat). So are they extremely unsafe or relatively safe moves (like say if I got in a fight with someone but my intention was just to subdue them, how much more dangerous would it be to ridgehand them in the side of the neck than to choke them out with a rear chokehold or something?)
Much more dangerous to use these strikes, especially the rabbit punch. you have to remember this is a Marine hand to hand combat manual and more than likely was designed to show killing tchniques. Much less liability on a rear naked choke if you know how to apply it correctly and when to let go. If you don't know when to let go you shouldn't use it either.
