starting teaching?
I was a Thermodynamic Engineer and Environmental Engineer for 20 years. I am also a Chartered Industrial Energy Consultant. I worked as an Energy Consultant for a major Natural Gas Utility. Before that I was an Energy Consultant for the state of Illinois and before that, in the Air Force, I was a weatherman. I have been on disability leave for the last couple of years and it looks like I may be able to resume work in a few months. I was considering going into teaching.
Does anyone know what I might need as far as teaching credentials, say for math and science, and where I should look?
also - what grades/level do you think I should look at?
You can teach College or Vocational school immediately
For High school or Elementary school you MUST meet state requirments, which means taking a few courses in College like Special Ed and taking the PRaxis test for grade level and course of study. Maybe student teaching for 10 weeks.
It varies from state to state, Public and Private education.
But you can teach Junior College or Undegraduate College tommorrow if they have an opening.
