Air conditoner problem on a 99 Chevy S Blazer?
I have a 99 Chevy S Blazer with automatic air conditoning, my compressor is short cycling on low pressure cutout. I can jumper the cutout and force the compressor to run continous, but it pulls into a vacume on the gague. I have added freon in stages to see what happens, but it still does this. I have even added more than a full charge and it still will cut out on low pressure. I was checking the low and hi port to see if they were leaking, when I push the schrader on the low side I get freon out, but when I push the ball opn the hi port I get nothing. I was wondering if the metering valve could be that clogged as to not let any hi side gas out of the port. Could this cause the short cycling, and it only need a new metering valve and accumulator, and not the compressor. Any other way to check the components?
I am a certified refrigeration tech, just havn't done much with auto AC.
i own a shop and first of all ac systems should not be fixed by yourself you need to take it to real people who really know about ac systems now based on what you said sounds like the orfice tube is full of metal shavings pull it out and take a look at it, if it is full you need to get an ac kit (compressor dryer orfice tube and flush) and have it re charged by a PROFESSIONAL good luck with it
