How to run electric from house to detached garage.?
Hello, I build a detached garage that is approx. 80-100 feet from the 200 amp panel inside my home. I will be running typical power tools, door opener, 30 gallon compressor, and a 220v mig welder on occasion. The garage is just for me so doubtful more than one tool and some lights will be running at the same time. I have wired extensively inside the home but have no experience going from one building to another. Any help would be appreciated. If it costs too much to have 220 in the garage I can skip it and use my old 110 mig. Thank You.
Run a 1 1/4" PVC line underground (at least 18" deep) Install (3) #4 copper wires (tape one white at both ends) and (1) #8 ground wire.
This is a 100 Amp line. Install this to an electrical panel. This will give you plenty power.
