I have done this in the past but for some reason it is not going well this time. I have some small undulations on an existing painted wall, may 1 -2 mm deep. To get it perfectly smooth I have skimmed over the top woth some multi purpose filler, waited until dry, then rubbed off with fine sand paper. This leaves it smooth and flat but then when I paint over, the roller is lifting the filler off the wall, and it either comes off in lumps or it blisters up when the paint is drying.
calsomine...it's some kind of powder. mixed with the paint to make a putty...they don't come off ...
