What's the life of the average diamond circular saw blade?
I'm wondering how many cuts i can expect out of an average blade for a tile/stone saw. Mostly cutting brick and tile with the occasional granite slab. And if they can be sharpened or do they have to be replaced completely when they won't cut anymore.
I understand that a specific number is going to have a lot of variables, which is why i tried to include some of the applications I plan to use it for. I'm just looking for a ball park...lets say, a cheap blade, a middle of the road blade and an expensive blade cutting 4x8x2-1/4 paver bricks. What kind of life span difference can I expect between them?
10" blade. wet saw. cutting the bricks in half. looking for number of cuts here.
And how do i know a good quality blade? Are there name brands? Is there a minimum price i should look for? I'm really a beginner here.
A good quality "wetsaw" blade should give a couple thousand lineal feet of cut. This can be altered dramatically by the thickness of material, hardness, rate of feed, whether you use awater soluble oil, etc., etc. They cannot be sharpened. What you are doing is constantly wearing off the "dulled" diamond chips and exposing "sharp ones. When you have worn all the diamond off of the blade body it is time to replace.
