Mig welder wire feeder won't turn, why?
I just bought this second hand mig and I found out the wire won't feed and the wire feeder motor won't turn. Seem like all the connections are good, this is 220 volts 110 amps, and I set it up for flux cored welding. Can anyone figure out why this thing won't turn even if I adjusted the wire tension to different settings?
This is a Chicago Electric Dual Mig Welder, 220 volts and 110 amps. I bought this second hand at a power seller with 100% positive feedback at eBay. I'm going to have to look at this again this morning before deciding to return it back for a full refund.
the bad motor could be the problem but,, is the feed tensioner too tight?? this will put too much pressure and stall the motor, try it with out putting any wire thru the feeders!! keep the tensioner opened,, if the motor then turns you know where to look! the other guy may have broken the gears etc to the motor by over tightening the tensioner,, you will have to get that replace.....you did not mention the name brand??
