How do you figure out which angle degree to use when doing an offset rigid conduit bend ?
For example, I have to make a 6 and a quarter inch offset with 3/4 " rigid pipe. I can't remember how much space I have in between the two pieces of strut I'm connecting the pipe to, it's roughly 40 inches. The electric bender gives me choices of 15 deg, 22.5 deg, 30 degrees and 45 degrees. I know there are different constant multipliers to use to get my distance between bends but how do I choose which degree angle to use, is there a trigonometry equation I can use to figue it out ? The Multipliers are as follows,
22.5 degrees =2.818 times the desired offset,
30 degrees= 2 times the desired offset,
45 degrees =1.414 times the desired offset,
60 degrees=1 times the desired offset.
In other words if say, you want to make a six and 1/4 offset with 30 degree bends you will set your start marks at 12 and 1/2" apart. The shoe must point to the start mark for both bends. don't turn the pipe around. Hope this helps...
