well depending on how much abuse the saw's got is what's going to determine weather it's a good saw or not. if it's all beat to hell then it's obviously not worth the money. also knowing how many cc's it is helps. naturally if you're going to be cutting a lot of hard woods you're going to want something that's got more power...and a good chain so you're not sharpening the chain ever 2 minutes. if you're going to be cutting a lot of wood frequently I'd go with a stihl personally. stihl's got good saws for any type of use and they're built like tanks. they're expensive but they last for years my uncle's had his for over 10 years and it's still running strong. a stihl 270 or 280 would be a good saw for mid range use. however a 270 with a 20" bar has an MSRP of $449 and a 280 with the same bar is $520 but they'll last a long time. however when it comes to stihls I ALWAYS recommend buying a different chain. I'm not to fond of the stupid low kickback chains they come with but that's just me. you can also go with a husqvarna 455 or a husqvarna 450 is what I believe the other is. those can be picked up at TSC for about 400 and 370. they're okay but I hate husqvarna because they're as*holes to work for! those are my recommendations. these saw's are expensive but they're worth the money least the stihls are. that's what I prefer. So those are what I'd recommend and what I prefer and personally I'd save the money and buy one of those. sometimes it's better to go with something that's tride and true and pay the money than take a risk and be out money.
