what type of welder should i buy?
Im thinking about buying a welder, should i get an ARC, MIG, TIG or Gas? I will be using it just to fool around with (not actually fool around) i plan to make things for fun, maybe finally build a proper frame for a go kart. so i was wondering what is best for someone who hasn't welder and is really cheap for someone on a major budget. thanks
An arc welder (ac dc) can be a good place to start as would be an inexpensive mig welder. Some 300 dollar mig welders can do a great job for what you are doing. A stick welder would also be good at around the same price range and could be a longer lasting good machine. It is personal preference. I would stay away from the tig as it is difficult to do at first and expensive. Gas is also expensive when you factor in the cost of leasing or buying tanks.
